Switching over
- 1. Install the bridge. An installer runs on the timing PC and connects the Mylaps decoder to your account.
- 2. Register the karts. Each kart gets its transponder ID, service intervals and running hours in the garage view.
- 3. Run a heat. Green flag starts the session — the clock begins when the first kart crosses the line — and times appear on TV and on phones.
Questions before switching
Do I have to replace my Mylaps decoder?
No. The system reads your existing Mylaps decoder over the serial port of the timing PC. A small bridge program forwards every passing to the cloud, so the transponders, loop and decoder you already own stay exactly as they are.
How is this different from Speedhive?
Speedhive is built around results publishing for the wider motorsport world. This system is built for the day-to-day of a rental kart track: race control for Grand Prix and Le Mans, a drop-in check-in queue, a booking page, driver QR pages and service hours per kart.
Can we run both?
Yes. The bridge only reads the decoder output, so nothing stops you from using other tools alongside it. Only one program at a time can hold the serial port, so pick which one talks to the decoder.
What happens if the timing PC loses internet?
The bridge keeps passings in a local queue with their original timestamps and resends them when the connection returns, so laps are not lost during a short outage.
How long does it take to switch?
An installer script sets up the bridge on the timing PC, then each kart gets its transponder ID in the garage view. Most tracks are running heats the same day.
